Do you really believe God is in control?

Not just in theory—but in the middle of confusion, pressure, and uncertainty?
Because that belief isn’t just comforting…
it’s powerful.
A Prayer That Changed Everything
In Acts of the Apostles 4, Peter and John had just been threatened for preaching about Jesus.
Instead of backing down, they gathered with other believers and prayed.
And what happened next?
“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…” (Acts 4:31)
God moved powerfully.
But why?
1. They Started by Declaring Who God Is
Before asking for anything, they praised God—reminding themselves of His power and authority.
In Acts 4:24, they prayed:
“Sovereign Lord… you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.”
They didn’t begin with fear. They began with truth.
This aligns with Book of Psalms 145:3:
“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”
When you declare who God is, your perspective changes.
2. They Acknowledged God’s Sovereign Plan
This is the part that stretches our faith.
In Acts 4:28, they say:
“They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.”
They were talking about Jesus’ suffering and crucifixion.
Think about that.
They weren’t blaming:
The religious leaders
The Roman authorities
The opposition
They were recognizing:
God was in control—even in the hardest moment in history.
This echoes Book of Isaiah 46:10:
“My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”
And also Epistle to the Romans 8:28:
“In all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”
Even what looks like chaos is under God’s authority.
3. They Prayed From Faith, Not Fear
Because they believed God was in control, their prayer wasn’t filled with panic.
They didn’t ask:
“God, stop this.”
“God, remove the pressure.”
They asked for boldness to continue.
That kind of prayer only comes from deep trust.
As Epistle to the Hebrews 11:6 says:
“Without faith it is impossible to please God…”
Faith isn’t just believing God can act.
It’s trusting that He already has a plan.
4. God Responds to Faith-Filled Perspective
When they aligned their hearts with God’s sovereignty, something powerful happened:
God showed up.
Not because they said the right words—but because they believed the right truth.
In Gospel of Matthew 21:22:
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Their belief unlocked boldness, power, and the movement of the Spirit.
Final Encouragement
If you want to experience more of God’s power, start here:
Believe that He is fully in control.
Even when:
Life feels uncertain
People oppose you
Things don’t make sense
He sees the full picture.
He is never surprised.
He is always working.
So pray like this:
“God, You are in control.
I trust Your plan.
Use my life for Your purpose.”
Because when your prayers are rooted in that kind of faith…
You don’t just find peace—you experience His power.
