Through Him: The Only Way to Live and Worship

“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” — Romans 11:36

At the end of his reflection on God’s overwhelming grace, the Apostle Paul lifts his eyes in worship in the book of Epistle to the Romans. His words are simple, yet they carry a truth that reshapes everything:

“From Him… through Him… to Him… are all things.”

In the previous reflection, we looked at what it means that all things are from God. Now we turn to the next truth:

All things are THROUGH Him.

More Than a Starting Point

It’s one thing to believe that God is the source of everything. It’s another to believe that nothing in our lives continues apart from Him.

“Through Him” means that God is not distant or detached. He is actively involved—sustaining, guiding, and working in every detail of our lives.

Nothing functions independently of Him.

Nothing thrives apart from Him.

A Conversation That Matters

Recently, I had a conversation with someone about music that turned into something deeper. When I shared that I serve as a worship pastor, the discussion shifted toward faith.

He said he wanted to grow closer to God—but wasn’t convinced about the role of Jesus.

That’s a common place many people find themselves in: seeking God, but unsure about Jesus.

But Jesus made a bold and unmistakable statement in the Gospel of John:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

This is the heart of what Paul is pointing to.

We don’t just come from God—

we come to Him through Jesus.

Through Jesus, Everything Changes

To say “through Him are all things” is to recognize that Jesus is not optional—He is essential.

  • Our relationship with God is through Jesus

  • Our salvation is through Jesus

  • Our purpose is through Jesus

Without Him, we are separated.

Through Him, we are reconciled.

Jesus didn’t just point the way—He is the way.

Your Life Is Through Him

This truth reaches into every part of our lives:

  • The work you do—it’s through Him

  • The relationships you have—they’re through Him

  • The talents and abilities you carry—they’re through Him

Even your very existence is through Him.

You are not self-made

.You are God-formed.

Every opportunity, every connection, every gift flows through the One who created and sustains you.

The Key to True Worship

Why does this matter for worship?

Because if we believe we operate independently—if we think our lives run on our own strength—then we disconnect from the very source of life.

Worship requires dependence.

It requires acknowledging that:

  • We don’t just start with God

  • We continue with God

  • We live every moment through God

And specifically—through Jesus.

Living Through Him Daily

God has a purpose for every single day of your life.

But that purpose isn’t fulfilled by striving harder or doing more on your own. It is fulfilled by walking closely with Jesus—relying on Him, trusting Him, and allowing Him to work through you.

A life that understands this becomes a life of surrender.

And a surrendered life becomes a life of worship.

A Life Anchored in Jesus

When we embrace that all things are through Him, we stop trying to carry life on our own.

We lean in.

We depend.

We trust.

Because the same Jesus who saves us is the One who sustains us.

And when we truly understand that, our hearts respond the only way they can:

“To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”
